YouTube Takes On TikTok With Generative AI Tools — Retail Bum
YouTube has launched several new artificial intelligence-powered tools to help creators create buzzy videos and expand their overall reach.
“We want to make it easier for everyone to feel like they can create, and we believe generative AI will make that possible,” said YouTube CEO Neal Mohan during the company’s annual Made On YouTube product event.
“AI will enable people to push the boundaries of creative expression by making the difficult things simple,” Mohan added.
One of the key tools being offered by YouTube is called Dream Screen, which has been developed exclusively for YouTube Shorts. Using Dream Screen, creators can add or replace image backgrounds with AI-generated videos and images by simply typing their ideas in a few words.
In addition, the company has launched a new tool that promises to help creators draft outlines and brainstorm ideas for music clips by typing in descriptive phrases. Creators can also offer content in different languages using an AI-powered dubbing tool that YouTube is offering.
The introduction of new AI-powered tools has stirred excitement among YouTube’s creator community, with many seeing them as a pathway to expanding their global reach.
“I think global content is the future,” YouTube creator Chikin Chow, who recently hit 30 million subscribers, told CNN. “If you look at the trends of our recent generation, the things that have really impacted and moved culture are ones that are global,” he added, pointing to the Korean TV series “Squid Game” as an example.
