Walgreens Expands Same-Day Prescription Delivery

Walgreens is expanding its same-day prescription delivery offering to nearly all store locations across the U.S. seven days a week.

Customers looking to refill their eligible prescription can enroll by texting “Join Rx” to 21525. After refilling an eligible prescription through the Walgreens website or app, they can select the same-day delivery option.

The expansion of the delivery service comes at a time when consumers are embracing solutions that provide them with an easy and convenient experience.

“Same day prescription delivery is one more way Walgreens is empowering patients to easily and conveniently manage their health,” said John Standley, president, Walgreens.

“We are pleased to make this service more widely available so that patients can refill and manage prescriptions from the comfort of their own homes and have medications delivered to their doorsteps in a matter of hours.”

The news follows Walgreens’ recent moves that have aimed to deliver a digital-first experience to its customers. Over the past year, Walgreens has partnered with delivery service apps such as Instacart and DoorDash and has also revamped its own loyalty program, myWalgreens. The revamped program allows shoppers to place orders online or through the mobile application and pick up their purchases in-store, curbside, or via the retailer’s drive-thrus in about 30 minutes.
