The North Face has relaunched its REMADE program, this time featuring a new collection of upcycled pieces.

The program was originally piloted in 2018 with the goal of diverting clothes that end up in landfills. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 85% of produced textiles are ultimately trashed and find their way to landfills every year.

The North Face is seeking to address that problem with 50 one-of-a-kind pieces made of REMADE Nuptse jackets and cardigans. The pieces in the collection cost anywhere between $160 to $350.

The outerwear company also recently launched a new take-back program for shoppers in the U.S. and Canada. The program allows customers to bring back the brand’s used merchandise to its physical stores, scan a QR code on a dedicated app and receive a $10 credit for future purchases.

Like the REMADE program, the take-back program also follows a successful Renewed Take Back pilot, which launched back in September 2022.

“More sustainable exploration (and complete circularity) starts with better designs,” The North Face said back in November 2022. “Our first Circular Design products, crafted to be recyclable at the end of their usable lives, are launching in Fall 2022. The entire life cycle of this gear has been considered. From selecting materials that help us minimize waste to designing products in a way that helps maximize the recyclability of the components, this gear is built to live on after a life on the trails.”
