Target has teamed up with ThredUP for the launch of a secondhand apparel marketplace on its website.

The marketplace offers nearly 400,000 women’s and kid’s products from Target-owned brands and nationally known and premium brands curated by ThredUP. Each of the products found on the preloved section of the site are listed for up to 90% off.

According to a company spokesperson for Target, the retailer is currently in a “test and learn” phase with ThredUP.

That said, this is not the first time Target has dipped its toes in the secondhand resale market. In 2015, Target launched a six-month test with ThredUP to allow shoppers to receive Target credit for any gently used items that ThredUP was able to resell.

This time, Target is looking to regauge consumer interest in preloved items and further its broader sustainability initiatives. Just recently, Target launched Target Zero, a new label that can be found in-store and online that indicates what products or packaging has been designed to be refillable, reusable, or compostable.

Target also recently turned its San Diego store into its first net-zero energy store by adding massive carport solar panels.
