Stitch Fix Appoints Macy’s Digital Chief as New CEO — Retail Bum
Apparel subscription service Stitch Fix announced on Wednesday (June 14, 2023) that Matt Baer would assume the CEO role and become a member of its board starting from June 26, 2023.
Baer, who previously served as Macy’s chief customer and digital officer, replaces founder Katrina Lake, who took on the position temporarily in January and will continue to be a part of the board as executive chair.
He expressed his enthusiasm about taking on the CEO role at Stitch Fix, stating that he has long admired Lake’s achievements at Stitch Fix, bringing together AI with styling service to offer the most convenient shopping experience out there today.
“People are looking for a better way to look and feel great. Stitch Fix is uniquely positioned to deliver that for them. I look forward to working with the talented team at Stitch Fix and leveraging my years of experience building and scaling retail businesses to deliver a sustained future of profitable growth,” Baer continued.
Before joining Stitch Fix, Baer held the chief customer and digital officer position at Macy’s. In this role, he was accountable for driving growth and establishing the long-term strategic vision for Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s digital businesses.
