Software and payments solution provider SpotOn has appointed Bryan Solar as its new chief product officer.

In his role, Solar will define SpotOn’s product vision and strategy and lead execution. He will also oversee the platform’s product and technology teams.

Solar joins SpotOn from Block, where he was the general manager for Square for restaurants. During his time at Square, Solar led product management, engineering, data science, marketing, and creative teams for the company’s restaurant business.

He has previously also held leadership positions at Google, managing various SMB and restaurant-related projects, and was recognized for helping launch Reserve with Google.

“I’ve been closely watching SpotOn since its founding in 2017. Their ability to combine innovation, ease-of-use, and exceptional customer support is unique in the industry and a clear reason that SpotOn has earned the business of tens of thousands of restaurants and SMBs in five short years,” said Solar.

“I’m thrilled to be joining a team that is built on empathy for business owners and operators and to bring my personal and professional experience in the industry to take SpotOn to the next level.”

With Solar joining SpotOn, Doron Friedman, the company’s co-founder and former chief product officer, is expected to take on the newly created role of chief innovation officer.

“Bryan’s work at the intersection of restaurants, SMBs, and technology makes him uniquely positioned to lead our product team in its next phase of growth,” said Friedman. “I’m thrilled to partner closely with him to deliver a product roadmap that helps our clients win, no matter what the future brings.”
