Skechers Taps Doja Cat as Inaugural Artist-in-Residence — Retail Bum

Skechers has tapped Doja Cat as its artist-in-residence to build more hype around its footwear products.

The partnership was revealed at the TIME100 gala in New York on Wednesday night, where Doja Cat wowed the crowd in a beautiful custom dress made from deconstructed Skechers Uno fashion sneakers. She expressed her excitement at being Skechers’ first artist-in-residence, saying that the brand has provided her with a new medium to unleash her creativity and showcase their collaborative work to the world.

Doja Cat, the GRAMMY award-winning global sensation, began her music career at 16 by uploading her first track to Soundcloud in 2013. Growing up in Los Angeles, she cultivated her musical talents through piano and dance lessons.

After signing with Kemosabe/RCA in 2014, Doja Cat released her Purrr! EP followed by her debut album Amala in 2018. However, it was her single “Mooo!” released later that year that propelled her to mainstream success and received widespread critical acclaim.
