Prada to Hire 400 Workers, Scale Production Capacity — Retail Bum
Prada plans to hire more than 400 people in Italy by the end of 2023 as it seeks to scale production capacity and grow its business.
The hiring is part of an investment plan that aims to give the brand more flexibility and reduce its time to market. The company currently employs a total of 5,300 employees in Italy, the bulk of whom (3,200) are engaged in manufacturing.
Nearly half of the new recruits will be trained by the Prada Group Academy, which teaches workers craft skills in making leather goods, clothing and footwear.
“We have an ongoing commitment to strengthen the industrial backbone of the group while being respectful of our long-time suppliers,” Prada’s industrial director Massimo Vian said.
Prada’s effort to strengthen its manufacturing comes at a time when the brand is enjoying continued demand for its products. Last year, the company’s overall sales exceeded analysts’ expectations, resulting in a 21$ increase in net revenue to $4.6 billion.
