Prada Appoints Former Luxottica Chief as its Next CEO — Retail Bum
Former Luxottica chief Andrea Guerra has been named the next chief executive of the Prada Group.
Guerra brings decades of leadership experience in the luxury industry. Between 2004 and 2014, he served as the chief executive of luxury eyewear giant Luxottica. He has also previously served as the CEO of LVMH’s hotel and hospitality division and Eataly’s executive chairman.
The move is expected to ease the succession plan for Lorenzo Bertelli, son of Miuccia Prada, and Patrizio Bertelli, the current co-CEOs of the Prada brand. Lorenzo has been serving as Prada’s marketing director since 2019 and as its head of corporate social responsibility since 2020.
As part of the executive shuffle, Miuccia Prada will stay on the company’s board and continue to serve as the creative director of Miu Miu along with Raf Simons. Meanwhile, Patrizio Bertelli will become the new chairman of the board. In addition, current Chairman Paolo Zannoni will serve as the company’s executive deputy chairman.
“Andrea Guerra, with his long professional experience, has shown entrepreneurial skills in businesses where the founders are present and engaged, blending their culture and the needs of a company continuously evolving and active on international markets,” said Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli in a joint statement.
