PetSmart Debuts Online Pharmacy

PetSmart has launched a comprehensive, one-stop online destination for the medical needs of cats, dogs and livestock called The Pharmacy at PetSmart.

“The Pharmacy at PetSmart is an exciting new way to help our customers access medications for pets quickly and conveniently,” said Kristin Shane, SVP of merchandising at PetSmart. “Whether you’re ordering your prescriptions for your dog or cat, on petsmart.com or our mobile app we’ll make sure you get exactly what your pet needs to thrive delivered right to your door.”

Through the new offering, PetSmart customers with an active prescription from their pet’s veterinarian can fill anything from allergy relief to refills on medication online at petsmart.com. After providing relevant pet and vet information and placing an order, medications are then processed and verified through PetSmart’s online pharmacy and shipped straight to the customer.

PetSmart’s online pharmacy is administered by Allivet, a pharmacy licensed in all 50 states and a provider of medication and veterinary supplies for more than 25 years.

“We’re excited about our partnership with PetSmart,” said Sree Upadhyayula, CEO of Allivet. “Not only is PetSmart a great brand, their incredible name recognition and high standards are a great opportunity for Allivet’ s Cloud Pharmacy to deliver high-quality products at the lowest prices to an even larger audience.”

The news follows a similar effort by pet retailer Chewy. The company just launched a veterinarian-only marketplace that has been designed to streamline pharmacy operations and boost revenue for veterinary clinics.

To celebrate the launch, PetSmart is offering free shipping to customers who place orders of $49 or more between now and January 30th, 2022.
