Outwear brand Patagonia has launched a new portal that gives customers 24/7 access to its product repair service.

In addition, the brand is expanding its network of repairers and increasing access to repair tools and services in its physical stores.

Patagonia’s Director of Finance and Operations for EMEA, Willem Swager, noted that the industry must embrace regenerative practices if it stands any chance of cleaning up its act.

“That’s why Patagonia is calling on brands to move away from a focus on only selling new and to stimulate reuse and longer wear of their products, through repair,” Swagger said.

“At Patagonia, we know that offering free repairs brings us many benefits and a unique moment to engage with our customers. And to scale our impact, we are looking for companies to join us in the repair movement.”

The launch of the service is part of the brand’s effort to improve circularity and increase its volume of repairs by four times to 100,000 annually over the next five years.

In 2023, the company teamed up with Makers Unite to launch a new United Repair Centre in Amsterdam, which trains refugees and clothing makers who are struggling to find jobs. The service is accessible to apparel brands and retailers that are looking to offer clothing repair services.
