Home furnishing brand, Parachute, has appointed former Amazon and Starbucks executive Drew Sheriff to lead development and execution of its brick and mortar retail strategy.

The seven-year-old brand currently operates 12 retail store locations and it plans to open two more locations by the end of the year. By 2022, it will double the size of its physical footprint to a total of 30 store locations.

As the company’s chief commercial officer, Sheriff will lead the expansion efforts and oversee customer service and home care operations.

Sheriff has extensive experience in managing physical retail operations. At Amazon, he most recently served as the director and general manager of Amazon Stores. He was charged with spearheading the development and the launch of an omnichannel strategy for the company’s physical store locations, including store pickup options, digital price tags and supporting new payment experiences.

Prior to Amazon, Sheriff spent ten years at Starbucks in various executive capacities, overseeing marketing and product organization, as well as the development and launch of new product concepts.

“We’re thrilled to have Drew join us as a valued member of our executive team at such an exciting and pivotal time for our business,” said Ariel Kaye, founder and CEO of Parachute. “Drew brings an intimate knowledge of the retail industry and impressive record of strategic leadership, and I have no doubt his experience will directly complement and benefit our long-term strategy. We look forward to him playing a critical role in continuing Parachute’s impressive track record of growth while helping us reach more customers and strengthening our commitment to exceptional service.”
