Pacsun Partners With ThredUp, Introduces Resale Offering

Pacsun has teamed up with ThredUp to launch a new 360-resale program that will allow customers to resell and shop pre-used clothing on the brand’s website.

The brand will be leveraging Pacsun’s Resale-as-a-service (RaaS) platform, which allows retailers to launch their own resale programs. The program will offer customers access to an online store, a clean-out program and cash-out offerings.

Customers can buy Clean Out kits on Pacsun’s website to ship clothing from any brand to ThredUp for free and get paid in Pacsun gift cards for re-sellable products.

Some of the key features in the program have been designed to encourage customers “to rotate their wardrobe sustainably, buy second-hand and receive credit to repeat the process,” ThredUp said.Pacsun

“At Pacsun, we are committed to digital innovation and delivering services that our customers will love and use,” said Mimi Ruiz, vice president of eCommerce at Pacsun.

“Our community already embraced sustainable fashion, and we wanted to incorporate that into our brand experience.”

“When we learned about ThredUp’s RaaS offering, we thought it would be a great fit,” Ruiz added. “By leveraging ThredUp’s proprietary technology, we were able to get our resale program up and running quickly, bringing value to our customers while also reducing our carbon footprint.”

Several other retail brands and platforms, including adidas, Madewell and Farfetch, have all turned to ThredUp to launch resale programs over the past year as consumer demand for sustainable fashion has risen over the course of the pandemic.
