Nike Delays Travis Scott Sneaker Release

Following the Astroworld concert tragedy that resulted in the deaths of 10 people, Nike has announced that it would be postponing the release of its sneaker collaboration with rapper Travis Scott.

“Out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack,” Nike in a statement.

The Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack shoes were initially scheduled to drop in December 2021. A confirmed release date is not available at this time.

During day one of a two-day festival in Houston, ten people were killed during a crowd surge. The youngest victim, Ezra Blount, was 9-years-old and died on Sunday after spending days on a ventilator and being in a medically induced coma.

The other victims from that day were:

  • Bharti Shahani, 22
  • Brianna Rodriguez, 16
  • Danish Baig, 27
  • Franco Patino, 21
  • Jacob Jurinek, 20
  • John Hilgert, 14
  • Madison Dubiski, 23
  • Rudy Peña, 23

The cause of death of the ten victims is still unknown.
