Secondhand online marketplace Mercari has unveiled the beta version of its latest offering shopping assistant, Merchat AI.

The ChatGPT-powered tool offers customers a personalized, hassle-free shopping experience, enabling them to effortlessly browse through a wide range of secondhand products and receive tailored recommendations based on their preferences and needs.

Using the tool, customers can engage in real-time conversations with the shopping assistant, akin to interactions having a conversation with a store associate. Customers can share their requests and unique preferences, such as brand, color, and style. Merchat AI then uses all this information to scan various listings on Mercari’s marketplace and generate personalized product recommendations within seconds.
