Matthieu Blazy Is Named The Creative Director For Bottega Veneta
Kering has appointed Matthieu Blazy as the new creative director for Bottega Veneta.
Blazy is a graduate of La Cambre in Brussels and got his start in the fashion world as a men’s designer for Raf Simons.
Blazy was appointed RTW design director at Bottega Veneta in 2020. Before that, he was a senior designer at Céline. Blazy also worked with Simons at Calvin Klein between 2016 and 2019.
“Matthieu Blazy is an extraordinarily talented individual, whom I am proud and excited to entrust with the creative helm of our luxury House. Bottega Veneta has always been equated with signature craftsmanship and distinctive creativity. Matthieu’s appointment will further enhance the modern relevance of our brand and accelerate our growth while preserving the values that are at the core of Bottega Veneta,” said Leo Rongone, CEO of Bottega Veneta.
The appointment of Blazy follows Daniel Lee’s abrupt departure that was announced just last week.
Lee took over the creative director position at the Milan-based brand in July 2018. He is credited with helping the brand build momentum, which the Italian brand continues to enjoy today.
“My time at Bottega Veneta has been an incredible experience. I am grateful to have worked with an exceptional and talented team and I am forever thankful to everyone who was part of creating our vision. Thank you to Francois-Henri Pinault for his support and for the opportunity to be part of Bottega Veneta’s story,” Lee said in a company statement.
Blazy is expected to present his first collection for Bottega Veneta in February 2022.
