MABI Swimwear Launches Hand-Painted Collection with Indigenous Activist Yarikazu Xipaya — Retail Bum
MABI Swimwear, the environmentally-friendly brand recognized for its tagline “Sustainable is Sexy,” has unveiled a selection of hand-painted swimsuits in partnership with indigenous activist Yarikazu Xipaya.
The assortment includes one-of-a-kind pieces decorated with indigenous painting art that not only enhances the swimsuits’ aesthetics but also promotes consciousness for preserving the Amazon Rainforest and its inhabitants.
MABI Swimwear has a long-standing motto that has focussed on leveraging fashion for the betterment of society and the environment. Their partnership with Yarikazu Xipaya is another step in that direction.
All the profits generated from the collection will be used to fund Yarikazu’s legal education in Belém, a city located 18 hours away from her village. Yarikazu, who belongs to the Yanomami village, is pursuing her education to promote the development of her village, undo environmental and political decisions, preserve ancestral traditions, and advocate for humanitarian and ecological causes.
The hand-painted swimsuits have been designed to serve as a platform for indigenous art and a means to engage a young and fashion-conscious demographic with unique pieces.
