French luxury conglomerate, LVMH, has announced the launch of new initiatives to expand and train its workforce, exclusively focussing on younger millennials and Gen Z workers.

The company plans to recruit 25,000 new hires under the age of 30 worldwide in addition to 2,500 permanent contract workers. The hiring spree will add to the company’s existing workforce of 165,000 employees. Furthermore, the company plans to offer apprenticeship and internship opportunities to 5,000 candidates as part of its broader international recruitment drive.

LVMH is also opening up access to its educational platform, which is available at INSIDELVMH.com, to further support its recruitment and educational efforts. Students can leverage the platform to learn more about various luxury trades and prepare for roles in the industry, regardless of their background or training.

Through INSIDELVMH, participants can expect 50 hours of exclusive content developed by luxury retail experts, including employees, HR staff and managers from the Group and its Maisons, as well as teachers from around the world. In addition, the program offers certifications upon completion as well as an opportunity to receive mentorship from a group employee.

A new “INSIDE LVMH” certification session will open on September 28, 2021,

Additionally, LVMH is looking to improve overall employability through its Institut des Métiers d’Excellence (IME) program, which teaches 27 expert trades across three focal areas: design, craftsmanship and sales. Since its opening in 2014, IME has trained more than 1,000 apprentices, with 97 percent graduating, 82 percent obtaining a certificate of excellence and nearly 80 percent of them having been recruited to work in the Group’s Maisons or with their partners. IME has a presence across six countries, including France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Japan, and Germany.

“For the past 16 years, LVMH has stood as the most attractive company for business school students in the Universum France ranking. At a time when the COVID-19 crisis has particularly affected the younger generations and impacted their employability, LVMH intends to accompany and support them in a concrete way to build their careers. This is the purpose of our ‘Craft the future’ action plan. Beyond the recruitment figures, it is essential for the Group to commit to the employability of young people by improving the visibility and knowledge of our expert trades,” said Chantal Gaemperle, director of human resources and synergies at LVMH.
