LVMH Appoints New CEO for Louis Vuitton and Dior — Retail Bum
LVMH Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault has appointed his daughter Delphine to lead Christian Dior, further tightening the family’s grip on the $400 billion luxury empire.
Delphine, 47, is taking over the position from Pietro Beccari, who has overseen Dior’s business since 2018. As part of the executive shuffle, Beccari will replace Louis Vuitton’s long-time CEO Michael Burke, who will continue working with Arnault senior.
Delphine has been working alongside Burke at Louis Vuitton as a vice president for the past decade and has 12 years of experience working at Dior. Beccari, on the other hand, has previously led Fendi and is credited with increasing Dior’s sales by threefold to €6.6 billion, Reuters reported.
Arnault called his daughter’s appointment “another milestone in a career journey in fashion and leather goods defined by excellence.”
“Under her leadership, the desirability of Louis Vuitton products advanced significantly, enabling the brand to regularly set new sales records,” he continued. “Her keen insights and incomparable experience will be decisive assets in driving the ongoing development of Christian Dior.”
The appointments, which are set to go into effect next month, follow Bernard Arnault’s decision to make eldest son Antoine Arnault the head of the family’s holding company. While Antoine’s appointment indicates that he will be likely successor to the LVMH throne, Bernard, 73, has no signs of leaving his CEO position anytime soon. LVMH recently raised the age limit for its chief executive position from 75 to 80.
