Danish toymaker Lego will be moving its North American headquarters from Enfield, Connecticut, to Boston by the end of 2026.

The company noted that the move is aimed at supporting its global growth ambitions by consolidating business operations near the company’s education office and enhancing its partnership with MIT.

“Boston is ranked one of the best cities in the world to attract and retain talent,” said Skip Kodak, president of the Lego Group in the Americas. “This, along with its world-class academic institutions, skilled workforce and great quality of life makes it an ideal location for our US head office.”

Lego currently has 740 full-time workers that operate out of its Connecticut office and all of the workers are being offered a position in Boston with relocation packages, with the first phase of the move kicking off in mid-2025.

Last year, Lego announced plans to open a new factory in Richmond, Virginia, which raised questions about the company’s future in Connecticut, according to WBUR. At the time, Lego dismissed the concerns and said the factory’s opening would not impact its operations and future in Connecticut.
