Kering has appointed Thierry Marty as president of North and Southeast Asia Pacific, a newly created position to oversee the French luxury group’s development in markets including Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

“We are delighted to welcome Thierry Marty to reinforce Kering’s presence in North and South-East Asia Pacific. Having lived more than 20 years in Asia, he brings extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the luxury industry in these markets. We are convinced that he will add an important contribution to the implementation of our strategy in North and South-East Asia Pacific,” said Jean-François Palus, group managing director of Kering, in a company statement.

Marty brings over 20 years of experience living and working for various luxury brands in Singapore, Tokyo and Seoul. Marty started his career at Deloitte and then joined LVMH in 1995, taking on finance and general management roles at Fendi, Celine, Bulgari and Louis Vuitton.

In his role, which will become effective October 1, 2021, Marty will look to reinforce Kering’s corporate team in APAC by supporting the long-term development of the company’s various fashion houses in the region. Marty will be based in Seoul and will report to Jean-François Palus. According to Kering, while Marty has been appointed as the president of North and Southeast Asia Pacific, Jinqing Cai will remain president of Kering Greater China and will continue to lead the local corporate teams.
