Kering Appoints Gianfilippo Testa As CEO Of Alexander McQueen
French luxury goods giant Kering has appointed Gucci executive, Gianfilippo Testa, as the new chief executive of the Alexander McQueen brand.
Testa is taking over the reigns from Emmanuel Gintzburger who will now be overseeing the Italian fashion house Versace.
As the new CEO of Alexander McQueen, Gianfilippo Testa will focus on “accelerating the expansion of the British luxury House to tap its full potential,” Kering said in a statement.
Testa has a long track record of leading luxury brands in Europe and Asia. He began his career at TAG Heuer in 2002 and went on to work in a range of roles at LVMH, including Fendi in Italy, Japan and Hong Kong. In 2016, he was appointed as Gucci’s president for the Greater China market, and since 2019 he has been serving as the president of the EMEA region and the vice president of global retail at Gucci.
His appointment comes at a time when Kering is making investments in growing its Alexander Mcqueen’s network of stores as part of its efforts to raise the profile of its smaller luxury brands, including Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta.
Kering has been benefitting from increased demand for luxury products since the start of the pandemic. However, the company is still heavily reliant on Gucci for the majority of its earnings.
