Instacart’s New President To Leave Company

Instacart’s President Carolyn Everson is leaving her position at the end of the year, just three months after joining the grocery delivery company.

In a Facebook post, Everson announced her planned departure and noted that her exit from the company was a mutual decision. That said, according to a memo attributed to Ryan Mayward, who is Instacart’s vice president of ad sales, there was a “clear mismatch” between the company’s priorities and the role Everson wanted at this point in her career.

Everson’s appointment was part of a top executive hiring spree the company went through earlier this year. Some of the other key hires made this year include executives from Facebook, such as CEO Fidji Simo and Chief Operating Officer Asha Sharma.

However, the company has struggled to retain some of its top-rank executives. For example, the company’s head of advertising, Seth Dellaire, left his position to serve as the chief revenue officer at Walmart.

Everson, who was hired to boost the digital ads division, was supposed to work with Dellaire on developing the company’s CPG relationships.

“Fidji and I have been friends for over ten years and our relationship is grounded in respect and trust and we both agreed that this was the best decision for the company and for me personally,” Everson wrote in her Facebook post.

“I believe in the company’s mission and the team and am grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to Instacart’s growth,” Everson added in a statement. “I intend to take time to dream up what’s next.”

Instacart is currently not looking for a new president.
