Instacart Expands EBT SNAP Access Across All 50 States — Retail Bum
Instacart is now accepting Electronic Benefits Transfer for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (EBT SNAP) payments for grocery purchases in Alaska.
The latest inclusion means Instacart’s acceptance of SNAP now extends across all 50 states, including Washington, D.C. The grocery delivery service already facilitates online SNAP transactions across more than 120 retail banners spanning 10,000 stores.
The announcement comes a year after Instacart pledged to establish nationwide accessibility for EBT SNAP payments.
“Our mission is to create a world where everyone has access to the food they love. By expanding online SNAP acceptance to all 50 states, we’re delivering on our mission by modernizing access and connecting more communities to affordable and nutritious foods,” said Dani Dudeck, chief corporate affairs officer at Instacart, in a statement. “Now SNAP families in every state can enjoy the benefits of online grocery from a variety of local retailers that meet their unique tastes, needs and personal budgets.
Individuals enrolled in SNAP can utilize Instacart to purchase groceries from nearby stores, opting for either delivery or pickup. Instacart extends a 50% discount on Instacart+ membership to SNAP participants.
