Hermès Beauty Appoints New Creative Director
Greek makeup artist, Gregoris Pyrpylis, has been named as the new creative director of Hermès Beauté.
“I’m so honored and thrilled to be joining the iconic house of @hermes as the creative director for Beauty,” said Pyrpylis in an Instagram post. “A house that epitomizes beauty in all forms with its attachment to craftsmanship and savoir-faire, a true house of creation and creativity. The beginning of a journey in which every personality can be expressed and every form of beauty will be revealed and celebrated, a vision of beauty I’ve cherished and kept since the day I discovered the art of makeup 15 years ago. And of course, a big THANK you to my new Hermès family.”
Pyrpylis was previously mentored by the former artistic director of Shiseido, Tom Pecheux, and has since worked with some iconic faces such as Alexa Chung, Laetitia Casta, Isabella Rossellini, Cindy Crawford, Natalia Vodianova, Adele Exarchopoulos and Stacy Martin. Pyrpylis has also worked with an array of prestigious skincare labels, including Laboratoire Bioderma and 111SKIN.
Pyrpylis succeeds Jérôme Touron and he will report to Agnès de Villers, president of Hermès Parfum et Beauté, and work under Pierre-Alexis Dumas, who serves as the artistic director of Hermès.
“We take a crosscutting perspective to creating objects for Hermès Beauty, an approach born of several areas of know-how that complement and enrich each other, with the aim of serving an artistic vision expressed through the object, material, color, gestures and eco-responsibility,” said de Villers in a statement. “As an expert in the colors, textures and gestures that express and elevate beauty, Gregoris’ talent will be a driving force for Hermès Beauté.
Hermès first launched its cosmetics division in March 2020, offering fragrances, lipsticks, powders and nail polishes.
