Grove Collaborative Appoints Unilever Exec As CFO
Sustainable consumer products company Grove Collaborative has appointed Sergio Cervantes as its chief financial officer (CFO).
Cervantes brings more than 18 years of experience working for Unilever and another four years at Gillette. For the past six years, Cervantes served as the CFO for skincare brand Murad, which Unilever acquired in 2015.
At Murad, Cervantes led the post-acquisition integration into Unilever’s beauty and personal care prestige division and implemented operational and financial efficiencies to drive sales and profit. In June 2021, Cervantes took on the role of acting CEO of Murad.
“I am extremely excited to join Grove and build upon the solid foundation that has been created to further advance the company’s mission and achieve our financial objectives,” said Cervantes.
“I look forward to working with the Grove team to make the world a better place while we execute our financial plans for the benefit of our stakeholders.”
Cervantes is taking over the position from interim co-CFOs Phil Moon and Janae De Crescenzo, who will continue their work with the company as the vice president of finance and chief accounting officer, respectively.
The news follows Grove Collaborative’s recent announcement that actress Drew Barrymore joined the company as an investor and brand ambassador to help shed light on the severity of the plastic crisis and the urgent need to create a more sustainable future.
Grove Collaborative was originally launched in 2016 as a Certified B Corp business with a vision to create a sustainable future. Today, the company has over 150 high-performing, eco-friendly brands that offer household cleaning, personal care, laundry, clean beauty, baby and pet care products.
