Due to the worsening conditions brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic, Italian fashion house, Giorgio Armani, has decided to cancel both Giorgio and Emporio men’s fall 2022 shows which were set to take place in Milan in January 15, 2022, and January 17, 2022.

“This decision was made with great regret and following careful reflection in light of the worsening epidemiological situation,” said the fashion house in a statement.

In addition, the brand has also decided to forgo the Privé spring 2022 show, which was planned for later this month in Paris.

“As the designer has expressed on many occasions, the shows are crucial and irreplaceable occasions, but the health and safety of both employees and the public must once again take priority,” the fashion house statement continued.

The move to cancel the shows comes on the recent spike in COVID-19 cases. More than 100,000 new daily infections are being reported in the country and areas such as Milan have been classified a “yellow zone,” requiring all to wear a face mask in public places, both indoors and outdoors, amongst other restrictions. France has also recently reported more than 160,000 new daily cases.

At this time, no decisions have been made to run a digital version of the shows.
