GameStop Is Hiring Creators For Its New NFT Marketplace
GameStop is accepting applications for its new NFT marketplace, the company revealed Tuesday.
While the company has not revealed a launch date for its marketplace, it noted that the marketplace will be minting NFTs on a rolling basis.
According to the newly launched website, applicants can be independent artists, game developers, brands and businesses, game studios, IP holders, or meme lords. They can request to join the marketplace by completing a web form and providing details such as name, email, website link and an Ethereum wallet address. Like any other job application, creators are also required to share their past experience creating NFTs and their plans to create NFTs in collaboration with GameStop.
GameStop’s NFT marketplace has been in the works for several months. The company began accepting applications for web developers and other positions in April 2021. It seems the retailer has filled all those positions as it is now only accepting applications for content creators, according to Crypto Briefing.
The company’s effort to launch a NFT marketplace comes at a time of widening losses. GameStop reported a net loss of $105.4 million this year, up from $18.8 million in 2020. The company generated a total revenue of $1.3 billion.
