Gabriela Hearst, the creative director of Chloé, is set to leave her position to focus on her own eponymous label.

Hearst, who began working for the French luxury brand in December 2020, is credited with propelling Chloé to the forefront of sustainability as the first B Corp-certified luxury brand. In addition, she launched an open-source platform called Social Performance & Leverage that enables brands to assess the performance of their suppliers based on fair wages and gender equity.

Under Hearst’s direction, Chloé has also sought to embrace a circular business model by launching a digital ID-powered resale program called Chloé Vertical and collections made out of recycled denim, according to Vogue Business.

And earlier this week, Chloé revealed that Hearst would be designing an inaugural collection for Atelier Jolie, which actress Angelina Jolie recently founded to produce clothing made with deadstock fabric.

Since her appointment, Hearst’s collections have been well received, and her efforts to elevate Chloé as a sustainable luxury brand have seemingly paid off. According to Chloé’s parent company Richemont, the division, including the brand, saw a 13% increase in Q4 revenue compared to the year before.

Hearst is expected to present her final collection during the Spring/Summer 2024 season at Paris Fashion Week. Her successor is yet to be named.
