After a year-long search for the right leader, Gap is placing its bets on an executive who played a crucial role in transforming Barbie, aiming to rejuvenate the declining apparel giant. The retailer has appointed Richard Dickson, Mattel’s current president and chief operating officer, as its newest chief executive.
His departure from Mattel, which was communicated to the staff on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, interestingly follows the “Barbie” movie’s blockbuster success at the box office, having grossed more than $356 million in sales.
