Francesca’s Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of Fashionable Lifestyle Brand Richer Poorer — Retail Bum
Specialty retailer Francesca’s has acquired lifestyle brand Richer Poorer in a bid to reinforce its connection with women from the Gen Z and millennial cohorts.
The acquisition of Richer Poorer marks a crucial progression for Francesca’s, which currently manages over 400 outlets. Three years ago, the company had filed for Chapter 11 but was procured by TerraMar Capital LLC and Tiger Capital in 2021, resulting in an immediate exit from bankruptcy.
Since then, Francesca’s has concentrated on reviving its Franki brand for tweens and launching a loyalty scheme. According to the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Jann Parish, the loyalty program, “The Fran Club,” has amassed over 350,000 followers since its introduction in October 2022.
Building on its success, the retailer also ventured into the resale business with thredUP to cater to consumers who prioritize sustainable fashion choices, particularly Gen Z and millennials. But now, Francesca’s is seeking further avenues to captivate millennial and Gen Z women with its purchase of Richer Poorer.
