FDA Issues Draft Guidelines To Regulate Cosmetic Products — Retail Bum
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued new draft guidelines to improve the safety of cosmetic products.
The new guidelines, which are being issued in response to the recent adjustments made to the Modernisation of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA), will regulate the safety of a wide range of products, including makeup, skincare, shaving creams, nail polish, and hair care.
Until recently, the FDA did not have the authority to require manufacturers to provide product listing details and a list of used ingredients or register facilities where they were produced. However, with the passage of the revised MoCRA, registration and listing of cosmetic product facilities and products are set to become a requirement later this year. Businesses will also be required to share the list of used ingredients and information about cosmetic products.
In addition, they must share any updates related to ingredient changes or listing information annually.
