French luxury fashion house, Chloé, is the first major player in the European luxury market to become a “B-Corp” organization.

As a B-Corp organization, the Richemont-owned luxury brand will continue to focus on having a positive environmental and social impact and work beyond creating value for shareholders.

“We are proud to be the first luxury Maison to join this community of leaders, driving a global movement of people using business as a force for good. By becoming B Corp certified, we reinforce our ongoing commitment to taking accountability for our impact on people and the planet,” said the company in a statement.

“Rather than a final goal, this certification marks a new stage in our transformation towards a purpose-driven model, reinventing how we do business. B Corp will help us frame our transformation, and we hope to inspire other organizations in our industry to join the movement.”

The luxury label originally announced its intentions of becoming “B-Corp” certified last year and since then, it has made significant efforts toward adopting and utilizing materials with lower environmental impact. Additionally, Chloé has also partnered with more fair trade certified suppliers and made commitments to promoting women’s equality.

“This certification is the result of over 18 months of collective work by our teams worldwide, staying true to our mission: Women Forward. For a Fairer Future.”

The company added that as it continues to embrace more sustainable practices, it will continue to update the public on its efforts in the sustainability section of its eCommerce website.
