Chanel Launches Its Most Conscious Beauty Line To Date
Chanel is cleaning up its act in 2022 and making its foray into clean beauty with the launch of №1 de Chanel.
The nine-piece collection includes makeup, skincare as well as a fragrance. According to a release from Chanel, the new line has been developed using the red camellia flower, which has been found to “support skin vitality” and slow the signs of aging through its extract, oils, seeds and yeasts. The flower also has a natural ability to fight inflammation, environmental stressors and moisturize and soften skin.
The №1 de Chanel collection features a serum that promotes elasticity, a cream that plumps the skin, a revitalizing eye treatment, a cleanser-lotion duo that aims to purify and a refreshing serum-mist combo.
In the makeup category, the Red Camellia Revitalizing Foundation comes in an array of shades that have been formulated to smooth and perfect skin while forming a literal barrier against epidermis-agitating stressors like pollution. The collection also includes the Red Camellia Revitalizing Lip And Cheek Balm, a two-in-one combo that blends easily and is also suitable for traveling.
And finally, the №1 De Chanel L’eau Rouge Revitalizing Fragrance Mist features “sparkling red fruit notes” that add freshness to the fragrance mist, according to Olivier Polge, the house perfumer for Chanel who has created fragrances including Misia, Boy and Chanel’s №5 L’eau. The creation of the fragrance was difficult as the red camellia flower is unscented. That said, Polge took it upon himself to gather inspiration from the house of Chanel and the physical features of the flower itself.
№1 de Chanel comes in environment-friendly packaging that uses about 80% recycled materials. In addition, all glass jarred moisturizers can be refilled.
The №1 de Chanel collection can be bought on Chanel’s website or at Ulta Beauty.
The launch of the collection comes just a month after the luxury label faced backlash regarding its $825 limited-edition Chanel advent calendar.
