Cartier Opens New Boutique in Amsterdam — Retail Bum
Luxury goods retailer Cartier is opening a new boutique store at the P.C. Hooftstraat in Amsterdam, a popular shopping street in the heart of the city.
“I am delighted to announce the opening of the new Cartier boutique in Amsterdam,” said Valérie Ahner-Boudier, managing director of Cartier Benelux and Nordics.
“When Cartier introduced its iconic red box in the Netherlands, it created a ripple effect that still echoes today between the city and the unique savoir-faire of the Maison. Cartier’s designs connect people in an unforgettable manner. The new boutique will be an open window to timeless design, celebrating creativity and craftsmanship. A perfect reflection of Cartier’s distinctive blend of tradition and innovation.”
Inside the boutique, visitors can find a playful and welcoming ceramic façade inspired by the city’s famous canal houses. All ceramic elements found within the location have been produced by the world’s oldest operating tile factory (Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum). Additionally, visitors can expect delicate touches such as Atelier Tollis columns in organic shapes inside the location. The store has been designed by Amsterdam-based artist Eva Crebolder.
Heading into the upstairs salon, the ceiling coves feature painting techniques of the great Van Gogh. And finally, the last level of the retail location features a courtyard garden which has been designed by the architects of MAAK space from Amersfoort.
Cartier’s history in the Netherlands began in 1975 when the luxury label opened its boutique on the corner of Amsterdam’s Koningsplein. In 1994, Cartier moved from Koningsplein to the corner of the Hobbemastraat and P.C. Hooftstraat. Since then, Cartier has opened two more stores on the same street.
