Los Angeles restaurateur, Andy Nguyen, is looking to open the first restaurant based on a Bored Ape Yacht Club non-fungible token ( NFT).

Nguyen reportedly spent $267,000 earlier this month to purchase the Bored Ape #6184 NFT, in addition to two more Mutant Apes, which gave him access to the intellectual property (IP) ownership rights and community access that is granted to holders of the NFT.

Nguyen, who is known for his creative concepts, is the co-founder of various restaurants, including Afters Ice Cream, Matte Black Coffee, Pig Pen Delicacy, Portside Fish Co., Dough & Arrow and Banh Xeo Boys.

The planned opening of the restaurant highlights the array of opportunities NFT ownership can bring, from digital to real-life situations.

“The reason I did this was to make a statement to the public, letting them know that this jpeg … could be utilized to turn into a brand and ecosystem for the restaurant world,” said Nguyen.

The new restaurant, appropriately called “Bored & Hungry,” is expected to open first as a pop-up on April 9, 2022, in Long Beach, California. It will showcase Bored Ape Yacht Club imagery throughout, starting from food packaging to employee uniforms.
