Delta Air Lines is aiming to capture the loyalty of Gen Z and millennial travelers with the rollout of a new buy now, pay later (BNPL) on its website.

The airline has teamed up with American Express to extend the card network’s Plan It option to its customers, which would allow them to pay for their ticket purchases valued at $100 or more in installments while still being able to earn rewards.

The Plan It tool is relatively popular among American Express members as it does not require users to fill out additional forms or create new accounts. Just over the past year, the total volume of plans more than doubled, with 65% of plans created by first-time Plan It users.

“Our Card Members love flying Delta for its world-class service and appreciate the flexibility of Plan It,” said Anthony Cirri, executive vice president of global consumer lending and cobrand at American Express. “It’s the perfect time to bring these together as people are booking long-awaited trips, and our Card Members can book with confidence knowing they are backed by the strong partnership between Delta and American Express.”

According to American Express, 68% of Gen Z and millennial travelers are likelier to take trips to various destinations if they had the option to pay for flights over time.
