Amazon’s Prime Day To Return in October — Retail Bum
In a LinkedIn post on Tuesday, Doug Herrington, the CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, announced that Amazon is planning to host another sales event in October 2023.
This event will be exclusively available to Prime members across 19 different countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the U.S., and the U.K.
The news follows Amazon’s first Prime Day event this year, which saw record sales of 375 million items, resulting in over $2.5 billion in savings for deal-seeking shoppers — making it the largest Prime Day event in history.
On the first day, online sales surged by 6%, reaching $6.4 billion in contrast to the previous year. Subsequently, on the second day, shoppers collectively expended $6.3 billion, displaying significant interest in discounted items like appliances and toys, despite a general reduction in non-essential buying by many consumers.
During the event, demand was particularly high for appliances on the second day, registering a 52% increase compared to the average daily sales in the preceding month. Simultaneously, apparel sales increased 24%, and office supplies saw a notable surge of 76%.
