Amazon is making a $100 million investment in opening a logistics hub in Turkey, the company announced.

The new facility will help support domestic and cross-border operations of small-and-medium-sized enterprises from the region, which sell products on its site. The facility is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs in the first year of its launch.

The new logistics center is expected to open in autumn this year. It will be based in the Tuzla district of Istanbul. The company has already begun its recruitment process for core functions such as operations, engineering, finance, HR and IT. It plans to hire customer service and logistics teams in the next few months.
