Adidas Investigates Misconduct Allegations Against Ye — Retail Bum

Sporting giant adidas is investigating misconduct claims made against Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, by employees who worked with him on the company’s Yeezy collaboration.

The investigation was launched in response to a Rolling Stones article that detailed Ye’s misconduct during Yeezy staff meetings. According to anonymous sources quoted in the article, West allegedly showed pornographic and sexualized material to staff and made sexual remarks at female staff.

“It is currently not clear whether the accusations made in an anonymous letter are true,” adidas said in a statement.

“However, we take these allegations very seriously and have taken the decision to launch an independent investigation of the matter immediately to address the allegations.”

Last month, adidas ended its partnership with West after he made antisemitic comments on Twitter. Soon after, Gap and Foot Locker announced they were pulling all Yeezy merchandise. Meanwhile, Balenciaga said it was cutting ties with Ye.

For adidas, the termination of the partnership is expected to cost the company $247 million and negatively impact its revenue in the long term. Ye, on the other hand, lost his stature as a billionaire.
